What is Metal Roofing?

Metal roofing offers a remarkable blend of durability, efficiency, and style that few other roofing materials can match. Its superior ability to withstand harsh weather conditions—such as intense heat, heavy rain, high winds, and snow—ensures that your roof remains resilient and reliable through all seasons. This exceptional weather resistance is complemented by a long lifespan, often ranging from 40 to 70 years, depending on the material. This longevity means fewer replacements and less frequent maintenance, translating into substantial cost savings and reduced hassle over time.

In addition to its durability and longevity, metal roofing requires minimal upkeep. Unlike traditional roofing materials that may be prone to issues like mold, mildew, or pests, metal roofs are designed to resist these common problems, requiring only occasional inspections and cleaning to maintain their performance. This low maintenance requirement further enhances its appeal as a practical and cost-effective choice.

If you’re seeking a roofing solution that combines exceptional performance, minimal maintenance, and modern aesthetics, metal roofing stands out as a superior choice. Its blend of durability, efficiency, and style makes it an excellent investment for both residential and commercial properties, offering peace of mind and a beautiful finish for years to come. For your next roofing project, consider metal roofing as the ideal option for a lasting and visually striking solution.

Main Types of Standing Seam

  • Batten Panels – Feature a batten style seam clip and are a popular choice for walls. These panels should only be installed on a roof pitch that is greater than or equal to 3:12.
  • Nail/Fastener Flange Panels – This type of panel has less accessories (no clips) so they are the most economical type of panel. These panels should only be installed on a roof pitch that is greater than or equal to 3:12.
  • Snap Lock Panels – These panels have the same accessories as a mechanical lock panel, but they snap into place and do not have to be mechanically seamed. These panels should only be installed on a roof pitch that is greater than or equal to 3:12.
  • Mechanically Seamed Panels – this is the best option for low slope roofing. These panels feature seams that are mechanically crimped together. The panels can be bonded with a hand seamer or an electric robot that mechanically seams. The end result is a small water tight seam that can be used on pitches as low as 1/2:12.

Why Metal Roofing

Metal roofing is cost-efficient, tremendously durable, resists damage from fire, and is very resilient to severe weather such as hail. Metal roofing may even reduce insurance premiums after being installed, simply because metal roofing is less susceptible to harm. Metal roofs are also ideal for commercial businesses because they are green. Metal is energy efficient, made from recyclable materials, is recyclable at the end of its service life, and can often be installed over an existing roof which keeps roofing material out of landfills. Another reason why metal roofing is a great option for your commercial roof is because they require minimal lifetime maintenance, saving money down the road. A quality metal roof can last 50-70 years.
